Meet Dr. Gomez

(she/her)

My journey of venturing into the world of mental health and wellness began early on, with my witnessing the struggle and hardship of many of those around me, both in my immediate family and in the low income community where I grew up. After taking my first psychology class in college, I knew that my path involved learning more about how to be a support and agent of change for those suffering and lacking the support.

Some of my very first clinical experiences included working in community mental health and substance abuse treatment. These experiences helped to build the foundation for my ability to walk beside someone as they navigate difficult life circumstances. I followed this with working in high needs schools, elementary through post-high school age. Experience with children, adolescents and transitional youth has exposed me to many intersecting avenues, including family work, as well as couples and parenting work. One of the most rewarding experiences has been to be able to work with families and help them understand the various roles they all play in the dynamic, and then to watch that dynamic shift and evolve.  Most recently, I have been using EMDR therapy to help people process through traumatic and deeply embedded experiences, many of which stem from early childhood experiences and family trauma.

I believe that everyone has the capacity to gain knowledge, skills, and strategies to improve their overall mental health and well-being. I take an integrative approach to treatment, incorporating many different modalities to meet my clients’ individual needs. I also believe that our culture and values play a significant role in our human experience, and I try to utilize this to help identify and implement the best treatment options. I believe that building a therapeutic alliance is one of the most important parts of the treatment process. I work to develop and model a healthy working relationship with every client by being warm, genuine, compassionate, and relatable. My goal is to help every client gain perspective and insight about the issues they are seeking help for, and help them work towards growth and fulfillment. I look forward to working alongside you on your journey.
